Mom!

Directed by: Hilda Lopes Pontes and Klaus Hastenreiter

Out there, the end of the world. In here, Rafaela is a mother. The screenplay for “Mamãe!” was based on the experiences of screenwriter and mother Hilda Lopes Pontes, as well as accounts shared by friends and colleagues. The film argues against the romanticization of motherhood, while not forgetting that, in the end, mothers really do everything for their children. The film was selected for major festivals such as Fantaspoa and the Triunfo Film Festival, winning four awards, including Best Actress at Curta Canedo for Penélope Lopes Pontes, the daughter of the film’s two directors.
